About
Nel has owned her violin for around 12 years. The violin is a full sized instrument, and has had a shoulder rest added to it for comfort. The bridge has been replaced several times, due to the wear by the strings when they are pressed on the fret board.
How it works
The bow of the violin is coated in resin, and when drawn over the strings the resistance causes the strings to vibrate, which then resonates through the wooden body. The tuning of the strings can be altered by turning the tuning pegs. There is also a smaller set of tuners for altering the pitch in precise amounts.
Where is it now?
The violin is stored in a hard padded case, and is rarely used. In the past it has been used for performances with other artists, usually as an accompaniment to guitar and vocals.
