About
The Roland 77 drum machine was Roland's first drum machine. It has large wooden cabinet, with a range of sliders, knobs and buttons for selecting different sounds and inputs. The temp and speeds of the sounds can be altered with the sliders along the bottom of the unit, and there is also a music stand on top which is ornately decorated.
How it works
The unit allows a range of different styles to be selected with a dial, then sounds can be altered with sliders. The unit has a range of outputs for connecting to amplifiers, using a full size jack plug. The unit also has a fade out facility, for a gradual reduction in the volume of the sound.
Where is it now?
The Roland 77 is used regularly for recording, and because of its versatile and retro nature can work with a large variety of music. The tough wooden construction has protected the internal electronics well, although some switches do not function correctly all of the time.
