About
The Grado SR60 headphones are a open back type design, and were bought in 2002. The design resembles a 1930s radio operator style, and are made out of metal and plastic to remain strong and light. Foam pads cover the speakers to make them comfortable to work.
How they work
The open back configuration of the headphones allows the diaphragm of the speaker to move freely in air. This allows the surface of the speaker to move freely, enabling it to move the air more accurately and therefore producing a higher sound quality.
Where are they now?
The headphones are used frequently to listen to music, especially at night. The supplied 3.5mm jack allows it to be connected to MP3 music players and computers, and a full size jack plug allows it to be connected to CD decks and amplifiers. The foam pads have become distressed with age, as the foam can disintegrate in sunlight.
